Moomin 80 Collection – a collection to enjoy and pass on
Posted by Your Friends at PO.P on Nov 01, 2024
Do you know the stories of Moominvalley? Written and illustrated by Tove Jansson, they have touched so many readers the world over. Now they come to life in our exclusive clothing collection that is part of Moomin’s 80th anniversary – a collaboration we’re very proud of.
With her philosophy of inclusion and love, Jansson has inspired both children and adults to discover a world where everyone is free to express their emotions and where the door is always open. In this first part of a two-part collection, you’ll find soft everyday clothing for children, as well as nightwear for both children and adults – all made of soft, organic cotton. And as part of the collection, a bathrobe in adult sizes!
In this collaboration, we want to encourage everyone to “pass on”, which is based on our vision that PO.P clothing is made to be handed down – our goal is for each garment to be worn by at least three children!
“We’re incredibly proud of our Moomin collaboration. The delightful stories of love and friendship perfectly reflect Polarn O. Pyret’s core values. We hope that both children and adults will love this collection – and that it will inspire people to pass the garments on, together with the memories,” says Martina Wernemar, Product and Brand Director at Polarn O. Pyret.
Pass on everyday wisdom, love and memories. The freedom of childhood and the desire to explore. The feeling of inner peace.
Pass on the adventures, the love of nature and the feeling of belonging. Everything that makes life magical. Over and over again.
About Tove Jansson
Tove Jansson was born on 9 August 1914 in Helsinki. She will be remembered as a brilliant author and illustrator of children’s books as well as novels and short stories for adults. Her work has been translated into 60 languages and is enjoyed all over the world. She is most known for creating the Moomin world in a delightful series of illustrated books.
Jansson was a free spirit and spent much time in the Finnish archipelago where she could live a simple life close to nature – something that is reflected in many of her stories, which often take place by the sea and in beautiful natural settings.

The Moomin stories
The first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood, was published in 1945 and was soon followed by two others. However, her big breakthrough came with her third book, Finn Family Moomintroll. It was translated into English, and the Moomin characters quickly became known outside the Nordics. Since then, they have featured in cartoons, TV shows and advent calendars – and also on everything from clothes, textiles to jewellery and tableware.
The collection will be released in mid November and will be available online exclusively in the United States.
Part two of the collaboration will be released in spring 2025.
